Amanda Brugel

(February 27 2010 (February 27, 2010) - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a quiet community located on the part of Montreal that is known as"the West Island. This West Island, to those who are unfamiliar with it, is a large part that stretches from Lachine all the way west. Amanda Brugel is said to be born on the West Island. But this isn't the case. Brugel began her life in Courtice in the town of Oshawa. The first goal she had was to be a professional dancer. However, an increase in her height meant she grew beyond her dance partner. According to an article by Toronto Star, she revealed that in heels she was 6 feet 1 inch tall. Once I had outgrown my male counterparts, I resigned. For Brugel, it was the advice of an instructor in drama from her high school which inspired her to pursue acting. The teacher suggested that she go after a role in the school's annual production. She auditioned to play the lead in Anne of Green Gables. The show led her to receive a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2000. For the last two decades she has had her perform in more than 60 movies and TV productions. Her most notable role was that of Rita (shown in the video below) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel is the only Canadian actor to appear in Season 1 and only appeared in a few episodes.
